About SproutSmile
SproutSmile is a free service that helps parents and guardians understand children’s dental care in plain language and get matched with a pediatric dentist for their child.
Why we built SproutSmile
Finding a dentist for your child can feel harder than it should. This is especially true if you are new to the US, speaking English is stressful, or you are trying to understand insurance, Medicaid, or CHIP while caring for your family.
We built SproutSmile to make that first step simpler. We share general, easy-to-read information for parents, and we help you find a pediatric dentist for your child. The service is free for families.
We are not a dental office, dentist, or healthcare provider. We do not give dental or medical advice. Our role is to help parents feel less lost and make it easier to connect with a licensed dental office when needed.
What we do
SproutSmile has two jobs. First, we explain common children’s dental topics in plain words. Parents often want clear answers to simple questions, like when to schedule a first dental visit, what happens at a checkup, or whether fluoride and sealants help prevent cavities.
Second, we help you get matched with a pediatric dentist. If you fill out a form on our site, we ask for parent or guardian contact details so a participating office can reach out. We do not ask for your child’s medical history or health records on our website.
If you want to see the steps before you start, visit How It Works or go straight to Get Matched.
Who this is for
SproutSmile is for parents and guardians in the United States who want help finding dental care for a child. Many of the families who use our site are first-time parents, busy caregivers, new immigrants, and people who would rather read simple English than sort through confusing dental websites.
We also try to be helpful for families who are worried about cost. Many children’s preventive dental visits are covered by insurance, Medicaid, or CHIP for eligible families, though coverage and office policies vary by plan, provider, and state.
We cannot promise that every office is the right fit for every family. But we try to make the search easier, clearer, and less overwhelming.
How SproutSmile is paid
Our service is free for parents and guardians. You do not pay SproutSmile to use the site or to get matched with a pediatric dentist.
We are paid a flat marketing or matching fee by participating dental offices. That means offices may pay us to help them connect with parents who are looking for dental care for their child.
That payment does not make us a dental office or healthcare provider. We do not treat patients, diagnose problems, or tell you what care your child needs. For questions about your child’s teeth, mouth, pain, injury, or treatment options, talk to a licensed pediatric or general dentist.
What we ask for — and what we do not ask for
When you use SproutSmile, we collect basic parent or guardian contact details so we can help connect you with a participating dental office. This may include things like your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code, preferred language, and general scheduling needs.
We do not ask you to share your child’s medical history or health records on our website. We also do not need detailed health information to help you get matched.
If a dental office needs more information, that office can ask you directly during scheduling or at the visit. If you have questions about what we collect or want help with your request, please contact us.
- We collect parent or guardian contact details only
- We do not collect your child’s medical history on the site
- You can contact us if you need help with a form or follow-up
What you can expect from our information
We work hard to keep our content honest, useful, and easy to understand. We focus on basics parents often ask about, like why baby teeth matter, why the first dental visit should happen by age 1 or within 6 months of the first tooth, and how fluoride and sealants help prevent cavities.
We may also explain common terms you hear at a dental office, including X-rays, cleanings, fillings, nitrous oxide, and sedation. Those treatments and services are provided by licensed dental professionals, not by SproutSmile.
Our information is general and educational. It is not medical advice. If your child has tooth pain, swelling, bleeding, injury, fever, trouble eating, or another urgent concern, talk to a licensed pediatric or general dentist as soon as you can.
A simpler way to start
You do not need to know every dental term before you look for care. Most parents just want a good next step. That is what we try to give you.
If you are ready, you can get matched and share your contact details. If you want to learn more first, read How It Works. If something is unclear, contact us. We are here to make the process feel lighter, not harder.
